There are watches that simply tell time—and there are watches that tell a story. The Breitling Superocean Heritage B01 Chronograph 42 is unmistakably the latter. Inspired by an iconic design from the 1950s, it brings the spirit of that era into the present: a refined timepiece, made for the ocean but equally suited for life above the surface.

Back in 1957, Breitling broke with the prevailing norms for dive watches. Instead of creating bulky, purely utilitarian tools, the brand introduced something entirely different. With its spear-and-arrow hands, sleek rotating bezel, and refined proportions, the Superocean quickly became a favorite among divers, sailors, and style-conscious adventurers alike. That pioneering DNA still runs through today’s Superocean Heritage—enhanced by modern materials and uncompromising design.

At the heart of the chronograph beats the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, a shining example of Swiss watchmaking excellence. This self-winding mechanical movement delivers a remarkable 70-hour power reserve and features a 1/4th second chronograph with a 30-minute counter—precise and intuitive to operate. The movement is showcased through the sapphire crystal screw-in caseback, offering a glimpse into the mechanics behind the craftsmanship.

Visually, the Superocean Heritage makes a bold yet elegant statement. The 42 mm stainless steel case is assertive without being overpowering. A unidirectional, ratcheted ceramic bezel provides both scratch resistance and functional assurance for underwater use. The cambered sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both sides, ensures outstanding legibility, whether in direct sunlight or beneath the waves.

One of the standout features is the blue rubber strap in a mesh-style design, which fits seamlessly against the case and is secured by a folding clasp for a sleek, watertight finish. It combines the appearance of a metal bracelet with the flexibility and comfort of rubber—perfect for active days on the water.

Refined touches like tone-on-tone subdials, a discreet date window at six o’clock, and the signature arrow and spear hands contribute to a clean, well-balanced dial that remains highly legible and stylish at once. With a water resistance of up to 200 meters (660 feet), this watch is ready for every adventure—whether you’re sailing the coast, diving the deep, or navigating the city.
