Description

This is a modern reinterpretation of the famous 62GS from 1967. The 62GS was not only the first Grand Seiko watch with an automatic movement, but along with the 44GS introduced in the same year, it was also the watch that first expressed the design grammar and the distinctive Grand Seiko style that still influences all Grand Seiko designs today.

Like its predecessor, this modern reinterpretation also features the characteristic sharp edges and flawless, distortion-free surfaces that can only be achieved through Zaratsu polishing, as well as a wide dial opening achieved through a bezel-less construction.

Upon closer inspection of the dial, one is transported to the scene of Hana-Ikada, a beloved moment shortly after the spring equinox, the Shunbun, when cherry blossom petals scattered by the wind cover the surface of a river. The textured dial and its pale pink color capture the magic of this cherished moment in the Japanese calendar, expressing not only the beauty of Sakura but also referencing the exquisite pleasure that comes from a deep understanding of the transient nature of time.

The watch is powered by the Spring Drive Caliber 9R65, meticulously hand-assembled by the skilled craftsmen of the Shinshu Watch Studio.
