Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Le Petit Prince
R.IW389410
Ø 41.9 mm
Description
The IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Le Petit Prince brings together the aviation heritage of IWC Schaffhausen and the imaginative world of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s celebrated literary work. This special edition pays tribute to the enduring story of The Little Prince, translating its poetic inspiration into a distinctive pilot’s chronograph that combines functional design with contemporary materials.
The 41.9 mm case is crafted from white zirconium oxide ceramic, a material appreciated for its light weight, scratch resistance and smooth, velvety surface. Its bright appearance creates a striking contrast with the deep blue sunray-finished dial, whose subtle gradient adds visual depth. White Arabic numerals and indices ensure clear legibility, while rhodium-plated hands filled with Super-LumiNova provide visibility in low-light conditions. The chronograph counters are arranged vertically, following the characteristic dial layout of IWC pilot’s watches.
A special engraving of The Little Prince on the titanium case back gives this edition its distinctive identity and establishes a direct connection to the literary inspiration behind the watch. The white rubber strap complements the ceramic case and blue dial, creating a coherent interplay of colours. IWC’s EasX-CHANGE system allows the strap to be replaced at the push of a button, offering additional versatility without requiring special tools.
At its heart, the watch is powered by the IWC-manufactured calibre 69380, a mechanical automatic chronograph movement featuring a column wheel mechanism. It measures elapsed time of up to 12 hours and offers a power reserve of 46 hours through its bidirectional pawl-winding system. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields and water resistance to 10 bar further underline its technical credentials. The result is a modern interpretation of the pilot’s chronograph, distinguished by its unusual material combination and the evocative character of the Le Petit Prince edition.
