As part of the iconic Speedmaster family, this model combines the collection’s historic association with spaceflight with advanced ceramic technology and a distinctive approach to modern watch design.

The 44.25 mm case is crafted from black ceramic, combining polished and brushed surfaces to create subtle contrasts in texture. The polished black ceramic bezel features a tachymeter scale made from Liquidmetal, integrating a functional chronograph detail into the monochromatic design. Beneath the sapphire crystal, the black ceramic dial has been laser sandblasted to create a finely textured finish. Blackened hands and bevelled indices filled with black Super-LumiNova, emitting a green glow in the dark, maintain the understated appearance while ensuring legibility. A central chronograph seconds hand finished in red introduces a striking accent against the dark background.

The dial layout is carefully arranged around the chronograph functions. A small-seconds display sits at nine o’clock, while the combined 60-minute and 12-hour chronograph counter is positioned at three o’clock. The black rubber strap complements the ceramic case and continues the lunar theme with a textured pattern inspired by the surface of the Moon on its underside. A ceramic foldover clasp completes the cohesive material combination.

At the heart of the watch is the manually wound OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9908 Black Edition. Its distinctive movement finishing includes a matte-blackened main plate and bridges, complemented by black varnished engravings. Visible through the transparent case back, the movement features a column-wheel chronograph mechanism and OMEGA’s Co-Axial escapement. A 60-hour power reserve supports its mechanical performance, while Master Chronometer certification by METAS confirms its precision and resistance to magnetic fields of at least 15,000 gauss.

A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides protects the dial and provides a clear view of its detailed finish. Water-resistant to 5 bar, the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon combines the technical sophistication of a hand-wound chronograph with a distinctive interpretation of OMEGA’s space exploration heritage.
